Don't mess... with a Princess.

Okay.... so after not having done.... anything, really, in.... well, quite awhile, the lovely sent me a really cool picture of a costume she came up with. Inspiration supplied, I rummaged my files for further references, went nuts with a pencil, and through some miracle unfathomable by me..... came up with this. Personally, I think it's my best piece so far. That kind of blows my mind since I've maybe done 4 sketches in the last 6 months. If that. lol

I'm really pleased with the drawing itself, because I think it really looks like her (and she agrees with me! XD), and also with how fluid it looks. I don't think you can really tell it was cobbled together from 3 or 4 reference pictures, of course I'm biased though. There's also a lot of shading, which had me kind of scared. There was no way not to shade the pants, which were the daunting part. I don't have a history of doing well shading large areas.... lol I can always see the transition in my own shading as the pencil gets dull or is resharpened, but this time... I think I actually got it right. Either way, I'm very pleased with it, and particularly with the belts and boots. I think they turned out quite nicely.

Aside from that my favorite single element is probably the hair, or hair and face if you choose to count the head as all one thing. I couldn't believe how good the hair turned out! She has really beautiful hair *is bragging boyfriend* and I've always been fascinated by it. It's so.... light. Angelic, almost. Like some sort of tie between the tangible and ethereal. I don't think I've ever been able to capture it to my own satisfaction before, though I've only drawn her two or three times.

Anyways, all that aside, I've actually been meaning to put this and a couple other pieces up for awhile now and just haven't gotten around to it. lol This one's maybe... two weeks old now? I think? Perhaps three, but definitely no more than four. Yep. Definitely no more than four. *is rain man* Well, as always, comment! P.S. Forgot to mention, I fixed her right (viewer's left) elbow after I took this photo. Never remembered to retake the photo. Need to do that one of these days. lol
